How is typing time calculated?
Words per day ÷ your typing WPM gives minutes of typing per day. We scale that by the workdays you enter. All inputs are yours; nothing is estimated from other people’s averages.
How do I convert words to minutes?
Divide the number of words by your words per minute. For example, 1,500 words at 50 WPM takes 30 minutes to type. Divide by 60 again for hours. This calculator does that for you and scales it to a month and a year.
How is time saved calculated?
Only if you enter a speaking WPM: the difference in minutes between typing and speaking the same word count. If you skip speaking WPM, we only show hours spent typing.
Is this the same as the typing vs speaking speed test?
No. That test measures your WPM on a passage. This calculator uses WPM you already know (or measures a short optional round) to project hours over a month or year.
Why don’t you show average typing speeds?
Population averages vary by study and keyboard. This page compares only your numbers. If we ever cite a published range, it will link the primary source.
How do I dictate on a Mac in any app?

Does Morning send my voice to the cloud?
No, not by default. Morning transcribes on your Mac using local Whisper models. Optional cloud AI features are off unless you turn them on.
